CALLING ALL COCONUTS…

Just wanted to inform all of you that Thanksgiving has passed, and as such…Tis the season of Vince Guaraldi.

Yep…I’ve listed to my well-worn, ten year old “A Charlie Brown Christmas” CD no less than eight times since last Thursday.

And you should, too.

COCONUT!

[God! I really need a painting or something for that wall.]

  1. I love that old Charlie Brown special too. Though I think I like the Halloween special better (Hey, I got a rock!)…kind of sums up my life hehe.

I try to watch this special every year too.

  2. “Christmas time is here…la la la…”

*sigh* You’re making me all nostalgic, Sal. Wonderful music. Back in the days when I could (sort of) play the piano I tried tackling “Linus and Lucy”. My version was interesting to say the least.

  3. Instead of hanging something there, maybe you could try drawing something on the wall. I did it in my bedroom. The best thing is, even if it looks bad, no one will dare to say it. Or it that`s too much, there is always option of gloomy black-and-white photos of your grandparents. Or your 2.-nd grade teacher. Keeps you decent, at least while in that room.

  4. Ok… I know I’ve been rubbish at reading blogs lately…

    BUT!!!!!

    How did I miss that???

Yes, you know the post I’m talking about!

I see what you did though… you waited until I was in Spain, before you wrote it!!

Lucky for you that The King forgives all…

p.s. Have you ever noticed in the song ‘A Little Less Conversation’ the word ‘Satisfactioning’ – Even I struggle with that! haha

  5. Glub, glub. Here I am…coming up for air.

Kurt: Ah, yes. Good old snow miser (or is it meister). That dude always reminded me of Edgar Winter. Sorry…showing my age.

Christina: The mere fact that you could even attempt that song tells me that your piano skills are (or were) more advanced than you’re admitting. That whole CD is classic. Christmas without it would just be…I don’t know, Flag Day.

Tinakala: Boy, you sure have overcome your shyness. 😉 A gloomy black and white photo of my grandparents or second grade teacher? In my bedroom? Yeah…why not just hang a sign around my neck that says, “The Forty Year Old Virgin?!”

Trac: Damnit, woman! It’s about friggin’ time! I was starting to become a bit depressed at your lack of response. Believe me, I didn’t intentionally wait for you to go to Spain before posting that. It was far more dangerous to commit such an act of blasphemy with you in my own country. Now…wait (just wait!) till I sink my claws into “Hound Dog.” :-O

Lady Di: Hey, I know that song! Now it’s in my head for the next twelve hours, thank you very much.

C-Swiss: If you use your imagination, my Mr. T COCONUT looks like a young Santa Claus. Or so says this lazy, lazy man.

  6. hahaha… perhaps, but I was in a different part of the country and had no computer!

You want to watch out though… your own coconut might turn against you, at this rate, if you’re not careful!

Surely though, you’ll actually be sinking your paws into Hound Dog, not claws??

  7. ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo…

Last night I watched the classic Charlie Brown Xmas on TV. Wow. It was followed by a pale later Xmas special that lacked the dead slow pacing and openly religious content of the original, plus, Snoopy had been updated to be the rounder, late model snoopy.

    ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo…

I love that cartoon. The flat animation the 60s colors, wow. But I wonder if it would even get made today and if they show it for any audience other than nostalgic persons of my generation. D’ya think the kids that watch seizure inducing japanamation would sit through it?

I’ve said too much. Sing it with me…

    ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo

  8. There’s an interesting article at Wikipedia about all the cuts made to the cartoon over the years due to changes in sponsoring and other stuff.

Kids these days don’t know what they’re missing.

  9. Great news about Snoopy … and just for you Sal:

Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree
Of all the trees most lovely

The news had come out in the First World War
The bloody Red Baron was flying once more
The Allied command ignored all of its men
And called on Snoopy to do it again…

    Christmas bells those Christmas bells!!!
    Ring out from the land
Asking peace of all the world
    And good will to man
