AND NOW FOR SOME INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES SENT BY MY MOTHER…

“Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the vineyards and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn’t drink this wine, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, “It is better that I drink this wine and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.”
~ Jack Handy

“I feel sorry for people who don’t drink. When they wake up in the morning, that’s as good as they’re going to feel all day. ”
~Frank Sinatra

“I read about the evils of drinking, so I decided to stop reading. ”
~Henny Youngman

” Wine is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”
~ Benjamin Franklin

“To some, it’s a case of wine. To me, it’s a Support Group. Salvation in a bottle!”
~ Dave Howell

Explains a lot, don’t you think?

  1. Sal – The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree – or should I say the grape doesn’t fall far from the vine!

  2. Your mum knows you well … that’s how I read it, and she loves you soooooooooooo much that she sent you the quotes to justify your wicked drinking habit.

If she were my mum I would send her a massive gift on Mothers Day.

  3. Mom: Yep! Now we just need someone to stomp on us so we can begin fermenting.

Christina: My family has another tradition for fighting colds and flus. It’s honey, whisky and lemon.

Lady Di: Wicked drinking habit? My dear…alcoholism is a goal; not a disease.

Mrs. TBF: To be honest, I have no idea who Jack Handy is. Sounds to me like a 1970’s porn actor. Jack Handy, with the handlebar moustache. You may be right, since I stopped watching SNL around 1985 (after the Crystal/Guest/Shearer/Short line-up left).

  4. Evil yet agreeable laughter … a goal … okay, and the journey is the destination?

Today I reaquainted myself with ‘nice’ French wine … a little Gigondas red if you’re ever out looking … so very very nice.

  5. Sal, your mother is still so nice — even after all she put up with with you, Todd and Nina. The woman is a saint!

  6. Now Nelson, I can’t believe you put me into a group with my brothers! I thought I was your favorite?!? After all, I still have the photo of you in the bathroom – haha!

  7. Hey Mary:

Yeah, I’m fond of my mother. But when speaking about the frustrations of her child-rearing years, you can’t put me into the same bucket as Todd and Nina. I was Mother Theresa. Todd and Nina were that little wooden statue from “Trilogy of Terror.”

Ignore Nina’s message above. She claims innocence, but we older folk know better. Todd was fuel on the fire; but Nina was the mouth that roared.

Hey…have you watched the “Big Chuck & Little John Show” lately?

  8. Would you believe Big Chuck & Little John are still on — due to their advanced ages, it is Saturday afternoon — can’t do these late night gigs anymore.

You “kids” are still at it — its a wonder we survived you guys. I remember when Todd had to call me the minute he came home from school just to feel all warm & fuzzy inside.
